Lucy had never left this patch of the Prairies without peering at it directly. She didn’t think she ever could. Because this land contained a monster. A monster made of bricks and walls and a community of people that she used to belong to. Sweat formed across her lower back. The atmosphere grew ugly and thick. She sent out the only prayer she would ever allow to pass her lips:
Let it crumble. Let it burn. Let the innocent be free. Let him die.

S J Tweed published her first poem about a remorseful murderer awaiting public hanging at eight years of age – okay so, it was in the school newsletter but she’s been dreaming up shady characters in need of redemption ever since.
She believes there’s a better world out there - even if it is imagined within the pages of a book – and that the dark only serves to power the light. If you have a penchant for slow-burn relationship arcs, authentic romance, characters who make a lot of mistakes, plus a touch of magic – you’re in the right place.
Mum to an emotional rollercoaster of a 3-year-old and partner to an absolute rock of a husband, she has been tutoring students in creative writing for the past five years. Now it’s time to get that book on the shelf...
